Photo-Therapy is an innovative approach that uses photography In therapy in order to reduce symptoms such as anxiety and depression, and also as a method of facilitating insight, relieving trauma symptoms, and promoting psychological growth.
Photo-Therapy has never been as relevant as it is today due to the technological advances in photography as well as use of social media. We all see how many images are being shared daily on social media and how much it can impact our moods. There are researches available showing the direct correlation of the time spent on social media with the mood. Unfortunately the results are mostly negative, meaning the more time people spend on social media the lower their mood will be!
Let's see what is the reason for this?
First of all, it shows the power of the images on our psyche (more on this later), and Secondly that most images are not a real representation of life in general! The images being shown or shared are fantastical, meaning they are retouched, exaggerated, and fake representation of imagined life. The good news is that we can use the power of images to our benefit, promoting personal growth and improving our mood.
