Hessam Motamedian, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Hessam Motamedian is an Iranian-American clinical psychologist and mental health philanthropist known for bridging depth psychology with cutting-edge, integrative approaches. His work blends relational, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and psychedelic-assisted therapies with harm reduction practices and transpersonal exploration.
Beyond the therapy room, Hessam designs educational and experiential workshops that bring psychology into the community—supporting caregivers, elders, and those navigating trauma. He also collaborates with artists and musicians to create immersive, art-based therapeutic events that open space for collective healing and self-discovery.
As a BIPOC-inspired clinician, Dr. Hessam is the founder of Therapy 4 Iran, a nonprofit offering free counseling to underserved Farsi-speaking communities worldwide, and created a bilingual relaxation program that has reached global audiences. His path began in psychiatric hospitals and college health centers, but his calling is rooted in post-revolution Iran, where early experiences with loss and resilience shaped his belief in the power of community healing.
Trained at UCLA, CIIS, MAPS, and the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Hessam brings compassion, neuroscience, creativity, and cultural sensitivity to his practice. He sees healing as a ripple effect—nurtured in safe relationships and community—and finds renewal through music, sports, and time outdoors.
